It's been amazing to see Laura's transformation as a business owner. We meet at least every month, and each time she has more and more plans of expansion. Hearing her updates make me so happy. She's excited and enjoying the challenges of business.
...They will sell you on all sorts of perks to the moon and back just so they can manage your site, a.k.a. CONTROL YOU! I'm going to tell you this straight. DON'T EVER DO THIS!
I think many florists spend WAY too much time focusing on the beauty of flowers and not enough on the bottom line of their businesses. It’s really hard, I KNOW! Taking time and digging into the facts or pulse of your online presence can help flip the switch from loss to profit…. And I mean, paying yourself!
Florists need to spend time building up a bank of relevant backlinks on their websites and less time worrying about social media presence. This is one of the main reasons major online floral retailers rank at the top of search results. They invest in backlinks.
Customer service has always been high on my priority list as a business owner. I have bent over backwards and lost money to ensure I didn't lose a customer. In my decade of business ownership, I've really only had a handful of unhappy customers. It was usually a misunderstanding of expectations.
It's really important for business owners to be aware of consumer shopping trends. It's these innovations that will dominate in the years to come. The question is, how will your business evolve to these new forms of commerce to stay relevant as new generations of consumers start to dominate the marketplace. You may not like it and fight it for a long time, but shopping and shipping directly to one's doorstep isn't going away.
Over the last several weeks, I've been spinning my wheels. While that may sound like going nowhere, I've actually been building the foundation and mindset of what Lora Bloom is and needs to be now. Yesterday, I found myself on a series of YouTube videos and Shopify Dev pages and literally went cross-eyed.
According to Businessnewsdaily.com, research discovered by Accenture indicated that 72% of respondents were actively purchasing more environmentally responsible products within the past 5 years. Furthermore, over the next 5 years, that percentage would increase to 81%. Additionally, respondents were willing to pay more for these types of products.
Stumbling onto consultation last fall, I discovered I loved it. I have learned so much over my decade long experience as a small business owner. But I'm not going to lie, it's been downright painful at times. I've shed lots of tears over the years and seen a lot of people come and go within the floral industry, especially during Covid times. Consulting another business gives me an opportunity to help someone else and share the knowledge learned over the years.
Wow, the world has changed in two years time! It feels like decades have passed, but it's only been 24 months. One thing is for sure, I feel older (uggg) and like the world took a bite out of my LORA Bloom vision and spit it out.
The Floral Tribute to RBG project is quite ambitious for a variety of reasons. Because LORA Bloom represents a collective of local florists, six LB florists have been selected to design a floral replica from RBG's neck collar collection. Then, the garment to be worn will be an actual black judicial robe and covered with black flowers and botanicals. No easy task! Reconstructing this basic robe is local style influencer, Riva La Diva who will also be the model. Lastly, the collection will be photographed by Missy Palacol Photography.
