Is Your Floral Business Easy to Find Online?

Is Your Floral Business Easy to Find Online?

It's also the perfect moment to pause and ask a question that doesn't get talked about enough in the floral world: when someone searches for your business online, what do they actually find?

That question is exactly what inspired my Tech Report in the Spring 2026 issue of Slow Flowers Journal, titled "The Question Is No Longer If, But How."

If you're a floral business owner, this one's for you.

Will AI replace creativity? NO!

I spent 10 years running a floral business. I know firsthand what it means to pour your heart into the craft — the early mornings, the sourcing relationships, the love that goes into every arrangement. I also know how easy it is to let the business side fall behind when your hands are full of flowers.

AI isn't going to replace any of that. But it is already changing how customers find you, how they evaluate you, and how they decide to reach out. For many floral professionals, the question is no longer if this will affect their business, it's how prepared they are for it.

Key ideas I explore:

Those who lean in will have an edge. AI handles repetitive business tasks — drafting emails, outlining blog posts, organizing content ideas — so you can spend more time doing what you love. The florists who embrace these tools thoughtfully, on their own terms, will have a real competitive advantage in the years ahead.

Efficiency without losing the human touch. AI is a starting point, not a replacement. Your voice, your values, and your lived experience still shape the final result. Think of it as a brainstorming partner, not a ghostwriter.

Start with your digital footprint. The very first thing I recommend is asking an AI tool like ChatGPT or Gemini: "What can you tell me about my business?" The answer — or the lack of one — will tell you everything. If AI has little to say about you, it means your online presence needs attention. And it all starts with your website. A business's website is its virtual real estate. Without it, there's nothing to stand on.

What AI cannot replace. This is the part I love most. AI cannot design with emotion. It cannot swoon over a couple's love story or replace the relationships built between growers, designers, and communities. It can't replicate the sense of calm that comes from walking between rows of dahlias at sunset, or the sound of crickets in the distance. It cannot make the value-driven decisions around local sourcing, fair pricing, or the cultural significance of floral traditions. Those are deeply human — and they always will be.
